Welcome to TORA
TORA as a match playing clan in the game Tactical Ops ceased to be at the end of 2002. In May 2006 we started it up again - this time as a fun and friendly place for old online gaming mates and RL friends to frag til the small hours on a regular basis. We played every Monday from around 9pm (GMT) til midnight and peaked at around 20 members in early 2008. After some fragmentation over which game to play (TF2 vs COD4 vs ?) it was decided to mothball TORA again on June 30th 2008 - representing 25 months of TORA mark #2. During that time we had a great blast and all made lots of new friends. There will very likely be a TORA mark #3 - but for now, we are all off to do our own things. [Poke]

As mentioned in forums/teamspeak/in person. TORA is mothballed after a great couple of years. Have fun...
Monday 17th Feb 2008 - things are looking good

We have completed our first month of TF2 on a high. Murkin has done a great job of sorting out the server (respawn time and lots of great maps), Delphium has brought in some great RL mates who I hope will stay around, Frank has finally stopped complaining about TF2 :-), we have around 14 players now semi-regularly playing TF2 and last two weeks we peaked at 10 online (grrrr.....would have been 11 if server had upgraded properly). The server (now 12 player) and teamspeak (now 15 player) are working well and the hoster is responsive (and cheap). All in all -  a very good start to 2008. Thanks all.
Monday 7th Jan 2008 - a good day to die (1st TF2!)

Tonight is the first of hopefully many top notch TF2 blasts for TORA. Murkin has been practicing TF2 to dominate. Erky has been practicing Quake Wars to ensure he can brag properly when he wups murkin. And the rest of ya - well Nichop is runnig scared and is a no show, but looks like we have some new cannon fodder to take on with 3 new folks to TORA threatenig to pop in and oil the zimmers. If we have 6 or more we will stay private for this eve to find our feet. Less and we will likely head off to an empty public server to draw in a few targets :)
New TF2 server and Teamspeak server
Posted by erknel at 3:07:18 PM
We have switched to http://gameservers.com for a new 10 person server+teamspeak. Gameservers are a huge worldwide hoster and I am already extremely impressed with their support and game utils.
We have handy launches on this homepage - but the forum also lists the IP addresses etc. Start testing them NOW!
I declare this site open for business

What better day to open for business than January 2nd - when Xmas is well and truly finished and the most exciting bit of January is going to be 9pm on a Monday evening with your TORA buds blasting each other with our new game - TF2.
This site replaces http://tora.proboards4.com as of today. Posts will be turned off on our old site. You will need to register on this new site and I need to approve you as a member of TORA (please use same Nicknames so I recognise you). NOTE: http://tora.clangrid.com is hoted on http://spruz.com along with thousands of other sites. Your login is your login for ALL spruz.com hosted sites - in case you already have one as I did!

Recruitment
RECRUITMENT IS CLOSED!!!
We welcome 21+ year old english speakers who can play Monday evenings. We do not play matches - think of us as a "virtual lan party" :) Several of our members play in other clans - this is our home for restful banter away from the stresses of needing to actually win :). A valid OAP bus pass gaurantees acceptance ;) As we are a gaming club more than a clan we:

1. Do not play matches (maybe the odd scrim)
2. Often just play each other on our private server (with teamspeak banter extremely high throughout :))
3. Don't mind if you are in a "proper" clan - as several of us are.
4. Are very casual about attendance - especially as most of us are parents with demanding jobs and more demanding families

All we ask is - be respectful to each other and change the sheets if you soil them overnight. Please post a NEW THREAD after reading how to apply.

Having used UK Hosters with mixed results, we decided in 2008 to try a "worldwide player". The experience so far has been excellent.
